First work party of the year
It was a damp and cold morning at the old pier that had seen a lonely winter. The workparty started off a bit cold, but it started to warm up towards the late morning and the afternoon got pretty nice. Jim Hickey towed the floats from the winter storage in the Pompeston Creek, and Russ Young assisted with the old mooring lightning. The Davits (which were "obtained" in the late 1940 from across the Delaware River where they cut up the Liberty Ships after the World War II) had been put in place and Jason tightened all the bolts. The should be painted to make the place look cleaned up. Hank was all over making sure no one spilled any paint on the newly poured front deck (you can also get an idea of how much he was working as almost every picture has Hank in it!) Our Treasurer was also out painting metal parts with Jason. Mindy was there working to get the things going and she went and picked up lunch and had that set up. Our sailing instructor, John Frasier, was out helping getting things set up with Alan Crew. It was a pretty good turnout with all the needed manpower (human power, people power?). Terry Fennell was working in the tow boat with Jim Hickey getting the Docks set up. Hopefully, next weekend will be warmer and we will have a good turnout. A special note for Jim Hickey (Mariner Fleet) who flew in from Bermuda to be at the workparty.
