December 15 (Sunday)

Had a chance to go to the end of the pier so see what was happening. They have a deep hole in the front of the pier where I presume they are pouring concrete to make a base for the pier, The whole front is torn up, and it looks like mud and blacktop was the basis of the pier, There are some 1" (maybe 2") steel bracings and stuff in the dirt. Would be interesting to go through all the dirt with a metal detector to find rings, pocket change, and boat parts that have found their way under all that stuff!

Right side of Pier looking west. Note the heavy beam behind all the outside reinforcement. Where you see the shadow is a major hole awaiting concrete.  Looking at the Yacht Club from the foot of the new walkway.
This is the front of the clubhouse from the deck You are looking at the kitchen and flagpole. The whole front has been dug up. Toward the front there is a major hole going to the river bottom. The right side of the club, showing the front all dug up and the support going to the front corner to reinforce the outside wall of the old steamboat landing pier.
Standing on the concrete looking west. Please note the new, extended wall of the outer pier joining the older pier behind the clubhouse. The new pier is about 18" wider. You are also looking at the new ladders for the side of the pier. Useful for getting to your boat after launching at low tide (remember?) Looking at the clubhouse from the concrete. The pallet of material in the walkway seems to be decking material for the front of the pier a base for the concrete.
